I love them they're such sweet people and their teriyaki chicken is amazing please don't forget to tip them
I remember I started going to this place I was 11y/o. I'm now 44 and still go at least 1x monthly. It's my go to comfort food. For the price and the amount of food they give you, it feeds many people. I can feed myself and 3kids off a 2item combo. The service is always friendly and I love to TIP $$ they all work so hard :) Tight quarters. Lucky if you can beat the rush and have a sit.
Holyyyy cowwww this place is amazingggg!! Now I've had many a Chinese takeout in my day but this place blew me away and I think they deserve a review that will do them justice because DUDE are they good! So it's a smaller shop and has the charm and character of a hole in the wall-mom & pops that you would expect, you walk in..it smells amazing, the food is staying hot in their respective trays, things are nicely stocked and ready to be loaded on to your plate..and I mean LOADEDDD. They definitely give you hearty generous portions but not to the point where if you pick up your tray or take a wrong step you will tear apart the to-go box. Which leads me to the next point of WOA, so we all know what a basic 2 combo plate tastes like especially if you do half and half and get your entrees of choice...BUT the chowmein actually has flavorrrr and their fried rice is made by someone who definitely knows uncle Roger and got the stamp of approval. I know orange chicken is almost everyone's go to and a staple for get the best bang for your buck..but hear me out..they have what they call their teriyaki chicken which at a first glance looks very similar, but trust me. Go. With. The. Teriyaki chicken, you will thank me later. I also combo's it up with their bbq pork and it was Smokey and saucey and meaty without the disproportionate fat to meat ratio we've all come to expect...now I'm a hungry construction worker so I've come to expect the food is fuel, but I've never experienced just great tasting food at such a great price, but partner it up with them being attentive, speedy and so dang kind, like they actually look at you and talk not just the "and then? What else? Is that all?" Attitude with fast food joints..I had such a cool experience that I was compelled and duty bound to write this review!! I even went back and asked for permission for a few photos of their updated prices and they were so humble and welcoming that they allowed me to with genuine gratitude and hospitality. If you're a local and haven't tried them. I say give them a go..if you're a lesser-by like me, I highly recommend them!! Cheers!
Ho Toys is now affordable and bomb again! Been going here for 40 years, I was unhappy with the price hike 15 years ago, but now it's super affordable! That line needs to be going out the door again. $10 for 5 pounds of food, get out of here! Take out only, if you know you know. They should sauce the orange chicken separately like sweet and sour because it does get soaked. It would be sooo bomb if they did.
Now THIS is a Chinese place. The lady working the counter was friendly, gave me a few samples and their two-item for $11 smokes the competition. I could barely finish it. The front is very small, almost claustrophobic, but the food and service more than makes up for it. Highly recommended if you're tired of being ripped off and want a real meal.
My go to for Chinese food. Love their portions. A lot of food at a great price. Mushroom Chicken and beef broccoli with half and half rice and chow mein. Always a regular here. Really nice family who always takes care of me. Come if you want tasty Chinese food
Well First China Kitchen is gone and the new owners albeit having a cleaner joint; the taste of the food now I find subpar. So what do I do? Look for a new favorite joint. One that offers that old school chopped up bbq pork. Not that reheated stuff like Panda Express used to offer. Remember that plasticky pork? So in search I went and in total in my 3 days of visiting home I hit up 3 different restaurants near Lincoln/State College cause I don't stay too far from here. I looked at Yelp ratings. And like most of y'all I'm finicky although I'm soften by the brutal reality of subpar or expensive Chinese food offered in Las Vegas. One thing y'all take here for granted is the ability to go to a low cost Chinese joint to get a combo meal perhaps broccoli and beef and bbq pork or whatever you like for under $10 dollars. Back in Las Vegas you have the choice of only one entree; so if you go to a typical low cost joint outside of lunch specials you're paying $18+ because you pay an additional $6-8 dollars of just say bbq pork on top of you broccoli beef order or you pay for TWO dinner/regular cost meals of $10.99 each Taking costs higher to about $22-25 per person which is whack AF. At roughly $8-10 for lunch specials in Vegas you're looking at $16 to $20 for "ONE" plate because again you just cannot order an extra entree for cheap they run separately and constantly at $6-8 a side. AND YES that is at most joints, there are a few restaurants in distinctly ghettoer places where a combo meal may be offered but the quality is also trash and those places are few and far between. I'm talking about having to experience with watered down sricha sauce, mystery looking meats and in general just poor quality food. I give this place 5 stars based on the portions they offer, the taste which is generally good, how fresh the food is and lastly the price. Visiting home this is always a must for me. 5 STARS.
